From 2006 to 2007, the Besser-Siegmund-Institut studied, under the scientific direction of Marie-Luise Dierks, Professor of “Public Health” at the Hanover Medical School, the effect of presentation training on the stage assertion of people suffering from stage fright.
The control group was given a high-quality “classic” behavior training. In case of the first intervention group, a three-hour wingwave Coaching session was integrated within the course of the otherwise identical training for the participants. It was to be investigated whether the wingwave elements improve the success of the training to such a measure or whether the mere fact that people undergoing a presentation training leads right to measurable improvements. A third group was given a “pure” wingwave Coaching session of an average three hours. The success was tested by a relevant psychological test method. Before and after the training and/or the coaching measure respectively, a presentation was given by each of the test person in front of an audience of strangers.
In all the three groups, the participants were able to reduce their stage fright, whereby the “pure” wingwave group performed with the best results. Then the result of the follow-up survey six months later was amazing: The major strength of wingwave Coaching appears to exist not only in stress reduction, but in the sustainable development of positive feelings and states, such as determination, fun and even joyful expectation of an appearance before an audience of strangers.
Long-term results on the topic of stage fright:
The values in the graph reflect the follow-up study six months after the presentation coaching. The “pure” wingwave group (white upper line) not only overcomes stage fright, but shows significant and sustained values in the field of “positive emotions” when appearing in front of an audience of strangers.
